University of Southern Indiana senior right-handed pitcher Aaron Piening (Indianapolis, Indiana) and freshman rightfielder and designated hitter Toby Pritchard (Ft. The Screaming Eagles go to 19-17 overall, 8-6 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, while Quincy falls to 9-19 overall, 4-10 GLVC.

Pritchard was the USI offensive force in game one with a two-run double in the fifth inning and a three-run triple the sixth to give the Eagles the lead and the win. For the game, Pritchard was three-for-four with a run scored and five RBIs.

Piening (2-0) got both wins today in relief for the Eagles. Pienning went 1 2/3 innings in game one, allowing only a hit while striking out two for his first win of the season. He went three innings in game two, allowing four hits and striking out one for his second win of the year.

At the plate, Piening also scored the winning run in game two. He started the bottom of the 11th by doubling to rightfield and advanced to third on a ground out by junior third baseman Brian Branson (Mt. Vernon, Indiana). After two intentional walks, Piening was forced in on a walk by senior catcher Greg Baisden (Schererville, Indiana).

Offensively in game two, USI was led by sophomore leftfielder Andy Nucci (Ft. Wayne, Indiana), who was three-for-five with two RBIs. Junior shortstop Josh Perkins, who has hit safely in 29 of 31 games this season, hit a solo home run in the fourth inning to give USI a 1-0 lead.

The Eagles and Hawks will finish the three game series Saturday, April 14, at the USI Baseball Field. Game time is 1 p.m.
