USI splits with SIUE in GLVC action

The University of Southern Indiana baseball split a doubleheader at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, winning game one, 4-1, and falling in game two, 12-5. USI’s record goes to 21-20 overall, 10-7 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, while SIUE goes 27-16 overall, 14-3 GLVC.
In game one, senior right-hander Kylan Stuck (Carmel, Indiana) picked up his sixth victory of the season with a seven-inning complete game win. Stuck (6-3) allowed four hits and one run while striking out four.
In game two, SIUE scored five runs in the first three frames and six more in the next three to get a 12-5 win over the Eagles.
Offensively today, USI was led by sophomore second baseman Adam Schiff (Evansville, Indiana) and sophomore shortstop Josh Perkins (Lafayette, Indiana). Schiff was three-for-six with three runs scored in the doubleheader, while Perkins was two-for-six with three runs scored.
The next action for the Eagles will be at the USI Baseball Field when Northern Kentucky University comes to Evansville for a GLVC doubleheader Saturday, April 21. USI will finish this weekends action by hosting 10th ranked University of Indianapolis for a doubleheader Sunday, April 22. Both conference doubleheaders will begin at noon.
