USI baseball hopes third time is a charm to start the season
Game time at Murray State is 2 p.m.
The Screaming Eagles, who were 23-28 last season, were rained out of the three-game road-series with Carson-Newman University over the weekend. The Racers also will be attempting to start their season Wednesday after being rained out of a three-game series with the University of Arkansas-Little Rock. MSU was 20-33 last spring.
The Racers have controlled the series with USI over the past 10 years. The Eagles won the first three in the series, only to MSU go 8-0-1 against USI since 1995. The last time USI won was in 1994 when it swept the season series (2-0) with MSU.
If Mother Nature cooperates, the Eagles will try to open the 2003 home schedule Thursday, February 20, when they hosts Oakland City University at the USI Baseball Field. Game time is 1 p.m. The first three-game home series of the year is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, February 22-23, when Purdue University North Central plays the Eagles. The single game Saturday is at 2 p.m., while the Sunday doubleheader is scheduled for a 11 a.m. first pitch.
