USI goes 2-1 on southern trip
The University of Southern Indiana baseball team took two of three games in a mad-dash road trip to Montgomery, Alabama, this weekend after having eight of its first nine games cancelled or postponed due to weather.
The Screaming Eagles defeated Mount Mercy College (Iowa) in the first game of a doubleheader, 6-3, Saturday evening, but the nightcap was rained out. On Sunday afternoon, the Eagles defeated Mount Mercy 3-0, but fell to Faulkner University, 4-3.
The Eagles, 2-2 this spring, return to the friendly surroundings of the USI Baseball Field for a rescheduled two-game homestand. USI will host Indiana University Southeast Monday, March 3, and Oakland City University Tuesday, March 4. Starting time both days is 2 p.m.
The Eagles will play at Brescia University Thursday, March 6, before they head to Georgia and South Carolina for its spring break trip. USI is scheduled to play seven games in seven days between March 8 and March 14.
Box Scores will not be available until Monday, March 3.
