Owen named GLVC Player of the Week
University of Southern Indiana senior rightfielder Steve Owen (Wauwatosa, Wisconsin) was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week. Owen hit .520 with eight runs scored and six RBIs while leading USI to a 5-2 week and back into contention for a trip to the GLVC Tournament.
He also was the Screaming Eagles' top slugger with an .880 slugging percentage with three triples and one home run. In addition, he scored the winning run in USI's extra-inning victory over Saint Joseph's last Saturday.
For the season, Owen leads the team with a .348 batting average, 40 runs scored, 11 doubles, eight triples, seven home runs, and 33 RBIs.
Owen and the Eagles will resume GLVC action Wednesday, April 30, with a doubleheader at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Game time in St. Louis is noon. USI will finish the regular season at home when the Eagles host Northern Kentucky University Saturday and Sunday, May 3-4.
