Sensenbrenner added to the USI baseball coaching staff
The University of Southern Indiana baseball team announced the addition of Dave Sensenbrenner to the coaching staff for 2003-04. He will assist Head Coach Mike Goedde in all facets of the team with an emphasis in pitching.
Sensenbrenner joins the USI staff after nine seasons as the head coach at Castle High School in Newburgh, Indiana. He compiled a record of 175-80 (.686) during his tenure.
An alum of the Screaming Eagles’ baseball program, Sensenbrenner’s 1.36 ERA in 1979 remains a USI single-season record. During his four-year career with the Eagles, he had a career record of 14-15 with a 3.69 ERA in 202.2 innings pitched. He also posted 14 complete games and three shutouts.
Following his collegiate career, Sensenbrenner moved on to the professional ranks and reached triple-A with the San Francisco Giants.
“I am excited to have Dave join our coaching staff,” USI Head Coach Mike Goedde said. “I could not have hand-picked a better candidate for this position. Our pitchers will enjoy working with him and I am glad to delegate pitching coach responsibilities to him in order to better oversee the entire program.
“Since he’s a recent high school coach, he can help our young players with their college transition,” continued Goedde. “Dave’s coaching experience and accomplishments will add a new dimension to our program. He also is very familiar with the local talent that allows us to recruit with greater efficiency.”
