Kehrt signs with USI baseball
The University of Southern Indiana baseball team announced the signing of right-handed pitcher Jeremy Kehrt (Plainfield, Indiana) to a national letter of intent for the 2005 season. Kehrt is the second player to sign with USI Head Coach Mike Goedde this spring.
Kehrt joins right-handed pitcher Matt Nichols (Newburgh, Indiana Castle High School) in signing with USI.
A three-year varsity letter-winner at Plainfield High School, Kehrt is 4-0 with a 2.55 ERA and 38 strikeouts in 22 innings in 2004. Last spring, he was honorable mention All-Mid State Conference after posting a 5-4 record and a 3.98 ERA in 56 innings of work.
“We have developed a strong nucleus of pitchers for the next several years,” said Goedde. “Signing Kehrt and Nichols gives us two young pitchers to maintain the strength of our pitching staff and to continue to build upon.”
