In Sunday’s opener, The Screaming Eagles allowed four Norse runs in the bottom of the seventh to fall 5-4. NKU completed the sweep of USI in the nightcap with three runs in the second and two in the fifth to win 5-2. USI senior right-hander Drew Neel (Newburgh, Indiana) took the loss for the Eagles, falling top 1-3 after allowing five runs in four innings of work.
Offensively, junior rightfielder Matt Keener (Newburgh, Indiana) led the Eagles in both games, collecting five hits in seven plate appearances. Keener was three-for-four in game one with a run scored and an RBI, while going two-for-three in game two with a RBI.
