USI baseball hosts UMSL for doubleheader Wednesday
EVANSVILLE, Ind.– The University of Southern Indiana baseball team hosts the University of Missouri-St. Louis Wednesday for a GLVC doubleheader at the USI Baseball Field. The first pitch is scheduled for noon.
The Screaming Eagles (13-15, 5-7 GLVC) have won their last three and four of the last five games. The Rivermen (10-6, 5-5 GLVC) enter Wednesday’s action having lost five of the last six game after being swept by Kentucky Wesleyan College last Sunday.
USI is scheduled to send junior right-hander Mike Watson (Madison, Indiana) to the mound in game one and senior right-hander Matt Keener (Newburgh, Indiana) to the mound in game two. Watson (1-1) earned a no-decision in his last outing, won by the Eagles, 9-6, over Southern Illinois University Edwardsville last Saturday.
Although he struggled in his last outing against the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, Keener (1-2) ranks third on the USI staff with a 3.10 ERA in five games and 20 1/3 innings of work.
UMSL leads the all-time series, 25-23, after taking three of four from the Eagles last season.
