Werry named GLVC Baseball Player of the Week

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - University of Southern Indiana freshman centerfielder
Chad Werry (New Harmony, Indiana) is the GLVC Baseball Player of the Week after he led the Screaming Eagles back to the .500 mark. USI, 4-2 last week, split a doubleheader with Kentucky Wesleyan College (6-1, 0-3) and went 3-1 against the University of Wisconsin-Parkside (1-0, 8-6, 8-7, 2-4) last weekend.
Werry started the week with a two-run home run against KWC in the 6-1 USI victory. In the two come-from-behind victories over UW-Parkside, Werry had six RBIs (four in one innings) and five hits. Of the five hits, one was a home run and one was a triple.
For the week, Werry hit .429 with nine hits, eight RBIs, two home runs, a triple, a .520 on-base percentage, and an .810 slugging percentage.
The Eagles (11-11, 8-10 GLVC) host Northern Kentucky University in a conference doubleheader Tuesday at the USI Baseball Field. First pitch is noon.
