USI to host KWC Wednesday

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana baseball team will attempt to get back on track Wednesday when it hosts Kentucky Wesleyan College for a GLVC doubleheader. The first pitch is scheduled for noon.

USI (10-5, 1-2 GLVC) has lost two straight since posting a seven-game winning streak. The Screaming Eagles are led at the plate by junior second baseman Darin Mastroianni (Huntersville, North Carolina) with a .482 batting average, while junior first baseman Matt Pleiss (Newburgh, Indiana) has driven in a team-best 18 runs.

The Panthers (3-14, 0-3 GLVC) started GLVC play 0-3 at Drury University and have lost six of their last seven games. Freshman outfielder Tim Wimsatt leads the Panthers with a .327 batting average.

Following the doubleheader against KWC, USI is scheduled to play a three-game series against Northern Kentucky University at Champion Windows Field in Florence, Kentucky. The series has been changed to a doubleheader Saturday and a single game Sunday due to a scheduling conflict at Champion Windows Field. The first pitch is scheduled for 11 a.m. (CDT) each day.

Originally, the USI-NKU series was supposed to run Friday through Sunday.
