SPRINGFIELD, Mo.. – The University of Southern Indiana baseball team lost a doubleheader to Drury University Saturday afternoon, losing 9-1 and 8-1. USI falls to 35-19 overall and 23-15 in the GLVC, while Drury goes to 27-21 overall, 23-13 in the GLVC.
The Screaming Eagles still need a victory to clinch a spot in the GLVC Tournament. USI also can clinch a spot with a loss by Quincy University in its last three games.
In the opener, the Eagles took a 1-0 in the second inning when junior catcher Garrett Oros (Aurora, Illinois) scored on a ground out by junior centerfielder Michael Beaven (Indianapolis, Indiana). The Panthers responded with seven runs in the bottom half of the inning to lead 7-1. Drury would go on to score two more in the third for the 9-1 final.
Eagles' senior right-hander Adam Summers (Dyer, Indiana) missed on his first chance to tie the USI single season record for wins. Summers (7-3) was only able to go 1.2 innings and allowed seven runs.

USI junior first baseman Josh Malone (Chesterton, Indiana) scored the Eagles only run of the second game on a single by freshman catcher Josh Jarboe (Connersville, Indiana).
On the mound, junior left-hander Cory Julian (Lynnville, Indiana) took loss in game two. Julian (5-3) went five innings and game up seven runs on 12 hits.
