Mastroianni, Julian named All-Tournament
MONTGOMERY, Ala.The 13th-ranked University of Southern Indiana baseball team may have been knocked out of the NCAA Division II Baseball Championship, but they were not forgotten as junior second baseman Darin Mastroianni (Huntersville, North Carolina) and junior left-handed pitcher Cory Julian (Lynnville, Indiana) were named to the All-Tournament team.

Mastroianni batted .438 (7-16) in the four tournament games for the Eagles with four runs scored, a triple, and a tournament-best six stolen bases. He also committed just one error in 25 chances in the field.
In the eight games of the NCAA Division II Tournament, Mastroianni batted .516 (16-31) with nine runs scored, three triples, two RBIs, and 12 stolen bases. He also was the Most Outstanding Player of the regional.

Julian recorded the only shut out of the championship series with his 3-0 victory over 5th-ranked Franklin Pierce College. He allowed three hits and struck out eight batters in nine innings.
The left-handed hurler was USI's top pitcher during the post-season with wins in the GLVC Tournament, the North Central Regional, and the NCAA II Baseball Championship. Julian was 3-0 with a 0.33 ERA in his last three starts, posting three complete games, two shutouts, and 21 strikeouts. He also earned a save in the North Central Regional Championship game against 6th-ranked Grand Valley State University.
The All-Tournament team also included Chris Rosenbaum (C), Tampa Billy Howard (1B), Columbus State Brian Frew (3B), Nebraska-Omaha Roberto Mena (SS), Tampa Fernando Franco (OF), Cal State Los Angeles Derw Candlin (OF), Columbus State Junior Mejia (OF), Tampa Rodney Rutherford (DH), Columbus State and Jonathan Holt (P), Tampa. Holt also was the Most Outstanding Player.
