USI signs All-Metro Player of the Year
EVANSVILLE, Ind. The University of Southern Indiana baseball team will have the Evansville Courier and Press All-Metro Player of Year for 2008. Infielder Eric Barnes (Evansville, Indiana) signed an NCAA national letter of intent to play for the Screaming Eagles last fall.
Barnes batted .429 for the Bosse High School Bulldogs with over half of his hits going for extra bases. He also drove in 40 RBIs and scored 32 runs.
BHS posted a 15-13 record and played in its first sectional championship game since the 1980s.
Barnes will be one of eight new Eagles in 2007. He joins catcher Kyle Rowley (Indianapolis, Indiana) infielders Josh Huebner (Evansville, Indiana), and Wesley Fink (Clarksville, Tennessee) and pitchers Shaun Larsen (Tell City, Indiana), Patrick Crider (Owensboro, Kentucky), P.J. Thomas (Jeffersonville, Indiana), and Derek Dever (Owensboro, Kentucky) in signing with USI this year.
