USI baseball ranked 10th in preseason poll
EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana baseball team was ranked 10th in the NCAA Division II Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Preseason Poll. This is the first time the USI baseball team has been ranked in the preseason since 1995.
The preseason rankings reflect the Screaming Eagles fantastic finish of the 2007 campaign. The Eagles concluded last spring with a school record 43 victories (43-23 overall), won their first North Central Regional crown, and advanced to the semifinals of the NCAA Division II Championship Series.
From the GLVC, USI is joined in the preseason poll by Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, which was ranked 24th. Northern Kentucky University was unranked, but did receive votes for the top 40 poll.
USI begins practice on January 10 and starts the regular season on February 9 at Armstrong Atlantic State University.
