Julian and Fink named players to watch
EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana baseball team had a pair of players recognized in the latest issue of Collegiate Baseball. USI senior left-handed pitcher Cory Julian (Lynnville, Indiana) was listed as a Player to Watch, while sophomore infielder Wes Fink (Clarksville, Tennessee) was a Newcomer to Watch.
Last spring, Julian led the Screaming Eagles' staff during the NCAA Division II North Central Regional and the NCAA II Championship series. He finished the season strong, going 3-0 with a save and a 0.32 ERA in the GLVC, North Central Regional, and NCAA II Championship series. Julian had an 8-3 overall record, tying a school record for wins, and a 2.10 ERA in a school-record 103 innings of work.
Fink joins the Eagles after playing last season for Jackson State Community College (Jackson, Tennessee). He batted .297 with 35 RBIs and 13 doubles in his only season with the Generals. Fink began his collegiate career by redshirting at the University of Memphis in 2005.
The Eagles begin practice on January 10 and start the regular season on February 9 at Armstrong Atlantic State University.
