USI baseball heads back south
Eagles looking for first win at Henderson State
EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana baseball team will be in its search of its first victory of the season when its heads south for a three-game series at Henderson State University in Arkedelphia, Arkansas. The Screaming Eagles and the Reddies play a doubleheader Saturday and a single game Sunday at noon each day.
The Eagles fell to 22nd in the latest Collegiate Baseball Division II Top 30 poll after suffering through a 0-3 series at Armstrong Atlantic State University last weekend. USI was led during the series by junior second baseman Kevin O'Hair (Scottsdale, Arizona), who went four-for-10 with four RBIs in the series.
The Reddies of Henderson State are 3-3 to start the year after sweeping Southwest Oklahoma University and losing three straight to Tarleton State University.
The Eagles also will be looking for a better outcome against the Reddies after going 1-3 last year. USI won the opening game 11-10 before Henderson State bounced back to win 19-1, 10-9, and 9-8 in the next three games.
Following the completion of the three-games at Henderson State, the Eagles return to the friendly surroundings of the USI Baseball Field and the home opening tournament on February 22-24. The tournament will feature USI, Missouri Western State University, and Winona State University.
