USI's Pleiss Selected as Baseball Player of the Week

INDIANAPOLIS – The University of Southern Indiana's
Matt Pleiss (Newburgh, Ind.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Baseball Player of the Week.
Pleiss, a senior first baseman for the Eagles, was nearly perfect at the plate in Monday's split at Henderson State. He was 5-for-6 in the doubleheader and had four RBI, a home run, double and two walks on the afternoon.
Pleiss went 3-for-4 with a run scored, two RBI and a home run in the Eagles' 10-7 loss in the opener on Monday. He returned in the nightcap to go 2-for-2 with two RBI, a double and two walks in their 11-9 win.
On the weekend, Pleiss went 7-for-10 with four RBI, two doubles and the home run.
The Eagles took the series, two games to one, and are now 2-4 on the season. USI, ranked 29th in the latest national poll, will host Oakland City on Wednesday.
Other top performers in GLVC last week included Missouri-St. Louis' Scott Lavelock and UIndy's Chris Saroff.
