EVANSVILLE, Ind. – University of Southern Indiana right-handed pitcher
Jeremy Kehrt (Plainfield, Indiana) was named the GLVC Pitcher of the Week for his efforts in the Screaming Eagles' 16-0 win over Quincy University. Kehrt shut down visiting the Hawks' offense to win his only start of the week, striking out a career-high 12 batters and allowing only two hits.
For the season, Kehrt has a team best 4-1 record with a 3.73 ERA in six starts. He has struck out 37 batters in 31 1/3 innings of work and has limited opposing hitters to a .242 batting average.
Kehrt is the second USI baseball player to receive a conference honor this season. USI senior first baseman Matt Pleiss (Newburgh, Indiana) was named GLVC Player of the Week in February.
USI, which is 13-8 overall, has won nine of its last 10 games and is on top of the GLVC West Division with a 6-1 conference record. The Eagle host the Kentucky Wesleyan College for a non-conference noon doubleheader on Wednesday.
