USI baseball has six named All-GLVC
Huebner, Kehrt, and Larsen named first team

CASEYVILLE, Ill. – The 26th-ranked University of Southern Indiana baseball team had six players named All-GLVC as announced by GLVC Commissioner Jim Naumovich at the GLVC Baseball Banquet Wednesday night. The All-GLVC teams are voted upon by the league's head coaches.
USI senior right-handed pitcher Jeremy Kehrt (Plainfield, Indiana), junior right-handed closer Shaun Larsen (Tell City, Indiana) and junior utility player/second baseman Josh Huebner (Evansville, Indiana) were named to the first team. Kehrt leads the Screaming Eagles with an 8-2 record, a 6-1 mark in the GLVC. His eight victories tied a USI singles-season record for wins.
Larsen has earned All-GLVC honors with record-breaking performances. He has set the USI single-season and career record for saves with 17, 10 coming in conference competition. The junior right-hander, who has a 4-1 overall record, is tops in the NCAA Division II in saves this year and needs just three more to tie the Division II single-season record. .
Huebner is USI's top hitter, sporting a .391 batting average, 45 runs scored, 79 hits, and 32 stolen bases. He also is tied for the squad lead with 12 doubles and three triples, while tying for third with 31 RBIs.
USI senior first baseman Matt Pleiss (Newburgh, Indiana) was selected for the second team. Pleiss has a team-best 34 RBIs, while ranking second on the team with a .349 batting average and 34 runs scored. He also has 11 doubles and two homes runs.
Picked for the third team was junior third baseman Alex Thieroff (Greenfield, Indiana) and junior designated hitter/rightfielder Chad Werry (New Harmony, Indiana). Thieroff has a .303 batting average, while ranking third on the team with four home runs and tying for third with 31 RBIs.
Thieroff batted .330 in GLVC action with a team-best 22 RBIs and four home runs.
Werry has become USI's third leading hitter after a slow start to the season. The junior is currently batting a career-high .308 and is tied for the team-lead with five home runs. He also is second on the team with 32 RBIs.
The Eagles open GLVC Tournament action at noon Thursday against the University of Indianapolis. The tournament is being held at GCS Ballpark in Sauget, Illinois.
