The Eagles built a 6-1 lead in the opener with a run in the second, a tally in the fifth, a four-run sixth, and a final run in the seventh. The Hawks made a game of it in the bottom of the seventh putting three runs across to pull to within 6-4, but USI senior right-handed closer Shaun Larsen
(Tell City, Indiana) got back on track by posting his 16th save of the season.

USI responded with a run in the eighth, but left runners at first and third in the ninth to drop the 10-8 decision. Four USI hurlers were hampered by three Eagle errors in giving up five unearned runs.
Freshman right-hander Shad Macke
(Evansville, Indiana) took the loss in the second game. Macke (0-2) allowed two of the five earned runs in the seventh after following senior right-handed starter Alex Thieroff
(Greenfield, Indiana) and junior right-hander Cody Brandenstein
(Evansville, Indiana) to the mound. Sophomore right-hander Trevor Leach
