USI menís basketball ranked fourth in first regional poll
The University of Southern Indiana menís basketball team is ranked fourth in the first NCAA Division II Great Lakes Regional poll of 2003-04. The Screaming Eagles, who are 13-3 overall and ranked 14th nationally in the NABC/Division II Bulletin Top 25 poll, resume action Thursday evening when they host Quincy University for a 7:30 p.m. contest.
GLVC front-running Lewis University (15-1) leads the way as the number one team in the Great Lakes Region. The Flyers are followed by the University of Indianapolis (15-2) in second Michigan Tech University (11-3), third USI, fourth Mercyhurst University (12-5), fifth Wayne State University (10-6), sixth the University of Findlay (13-4), seventh and Gannon University (14-3), eighth. Northern Kentucky University (11-8) and Grand Valley State University (10-4) round out the first poll at ninth and 10th, respectively.
The regional rankings will be released each Wednesday through March 3. The top eight teams from each region will earn berths in the NCAA Division II Tournament that begins March 13.
