Hudson signs with USI men’s basketball
The University of Southern Indiana men’s basketball team announced the signing of 6’6” junior forward James Hudson (Harvey, Louisiana) for the 2004-05 season. Hudson is the eighth player to sign with USI and Head Coach Rick Herdes.
Hudson has played the last two seasons for Oxnard College (Oxnard, California), which is a member of the prestigious California League of Community Colleges. A first team All-Western State Conference, he averaged 15 points and 10 rebounds per game in 2003-04.
During his first season at Oxnard, Hudson was All-Freshman and second team All-Western State Conference after averaging 10.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per contest.
Prior to attending Oxnard, Hudson was a Louisiana All-State selection after averaging 18 points and seven rebounds per game at John Ehret High School (Marrero, Louisiana). He also was All-Metro (New Orleans) and All-Conference as a senior at JEHS.
“James fills an immediate need with his athleticism and ability to rebound,” said USI Assistant Coach Marc Hostetter. “In addition to his basketball skills, James is a competitor and a high quality young man.”
Hudson joins guards David Bryant (Louisville, Kentucky), Danny Gibson (Madison, Indiana), and Carl Richburg (Mason, Ohio) guard/forward Stacy Pearson (Riverdale, Georgia) and forwards Chris Thompson (Starke, Florida), John Hoover (Evansville, Indiana), and Eric Washington (Lafayette, Indiana) in signing with USI this year.
