Holbrook named GLVC’s Player of the Week
Senior center averages 26.5 ppg to earn honor
EVANSVILLE, Ind. University of Southern Indiana senior center Randy Holbrook (St. Louis, Missouri) was named the GLVC Player of the Week after averaging 26.5 points on 67.9 percent field goal shooting in leading the Screaming Eagles to victories over Bellarmine University and Northern Kentucky University last week. Holbrook began the week with a 25-point, six rebound performance in Thursday’s 109-73 victory over Bellarmine. The 6’9” pivotman stepped up big in Saturday’s thrilling overtime victory over NKU, hitting a pair of free throws with 11 seconds to play to seal the 87-82 triumph.
Holbrook, who finished with 28 points against NKU, also averaged 9.0 rebounds, while shooting 50.0 percent from the three-point arc (2-4) and 81.3 percent (13-16) from the line. He also hit 19-of-28 shots and registered his first double-double of the year (12 rebounds) against NKU.
Holbrook and the Eagles resume the 2004-05 campaign this evening by hosting the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown for a 7:30 p.m. contest.
