Box Score

EVANSVILLE, Ind.
Ė The 16th-ranked University of Southern Indiana menís basketball team improved its home record to 13-0 at the Physical Activities Center with an 88-64 victory over the University of Wisconsin-Parkside Thursday evening. USI raises its record to 18-4 overall and 13-2 in the GLVC, while UWP falls to 9-13 overall, 4-11 GLVC.

The victory, which was USIís 22nd in a row at the PAC, also extended the Eagles winning streak to eight games. The eight-game streak began nearly five weeks ago in Kenosha, Wisconsin, with USIís 62-58 victory over the Rangers.

The win also gives USI a three-game lead over Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in the GLVC race with five games to play. SIUE lost 74-65 at Quincy University Thursday night.

UWP stayed close to the Eagles in the first half and had an 11-6 lead with 12:58 to play in the first half. USI pushed past the Rangers in the next two minutes on a 14-3 run to take the lead for good. The Eagles led by as many as eight points three times in the first stanza and went into the locker room with a 33-27 lead.

A 17-3 run to open the second half put the Eagles ahead comfortably, 50-30, with 16:50 to play in the game. USI would extend its lead to as many as 30 points before the Rangers used a 6-0 run to close out the game, 88-64.

USI had two players with double-doubles in the victory. Junior forward Chris Thompson (Starke, Florida) posted his team-best 10th double-double of the year and his third in a row with 14 points and 13 rebounds, while sophomore forward Geoff Van Winkle (Ferdinand, Indiana) recorded his first collegiate double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Senior guard Cris Brunson (Evansville, Indiana) and senior forward/center Randy Holbrook (St. Louis, Missouri) led the team in the scoring column with 16 points each.

The Eagles host their final regular season home game Saturday when Lewis University comes to the PAC for Senior Day and Homecoming. Game time is 3:15 p.m. USI will be looking to finish with a perfect home record for the first time since 1999-2000.
