Wise signs with the Eagles

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana men’s basketball team announced the signing of 6’6” forward Marty Wise (New Orleans, Louisiana) to a national letter of intent for the 2004-05 season. Wise is the third player to sign with USI and Head Coach Rick Herdes this spring.

Wise was named third team NJCAA All-American in 2004-05, averaging 13.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 2.0 steals as a sophomore at Moberly Area Community College. MACC, which is located in Moberly, Missouri, was 30-7 overall and was the NJCAA Division I runner-up in 2004-05.

The two-time first team All-Region performer also helped lead the Greyhounds to a 28-5 record in his first season.

“Marty is a winner and a team player with excellent skills and knowledge of the game of basketball,” said Herdes. “Coach Hostetter did a great job of recruiting Marty to USI.”

Wise is the second third team NJCAA All-American to sign with the Eagles this year. Melvin Hall (Evansville, Indiana), a third team All-American at John A. Logan College this past year, signed with USI during the fall. Forwards Jeff Fahnbulleh (Van Nuys, California) and George Cunningham (Jamul, California) have signed with the Eagles in the spring signing period.
