Hall ties school record in USI victory
@#5 Southern Indiana (13-1): 114
Oakland City (5-6): 56
EVANSVILLE, Ind. ľUniversity of Southern Indiana junior guard Melvin Hall (Evansville, Indiana) tied a single-game school record with eight three-point field goals and scored a season-high 32 points to lead the Screaming Eagles to a 114-56 victory over Oakland City University Monday evening at the Physical Activities Center. Fifth-ranked USI has won seven straight and is 14-1 overall, while OCU falls to 5-7 in 2005-06.
Hall joins former USI players Robin Clark and Jeremy Pearson in hitting eight three-point field goals in a game. Clark dropped in eight bombs against Indiana University-Purdue University Ft. Wayne in 1989-90, while Pearson sank eight from beyond the arc against the University of Puerto Rico-Mayaquez in 1997-98.
USI senior forward Chris Thompson
(Starke, Florida) followed Hall in the scoring column with 18 points, while senior guard David Bryant
(Louisville, Kentucky) and junior forward Nick Brooks
(Robinson, Illinois) scored 13 points apiece and junior forward/center Keith Christmas
(Gary, Indiana) and freshman guard Alex Gravelle
(Louisville, Kentucky) dropped in 10 points each. The 10 points was a season high for Gravelle.
With 114 points against OCU, the Eagles scored over 100 points in two straight games for the first time since the 2003-04 season. USI has gone over the century mark twice in 2005-06 and has won 50 in a row when scoring 100 or more points.
USI resumes the 2005-06 GLVC schedule when it travels to Bellarmine University on Thursday for a 7 p.m. (CST) contest. The Eagles will conclude the conference road trip at Northern Kentucky University Saturday at 2:15 p.m. (CST).
The next home game for the Eagles will be January 14 when they start a two-game homestand by hosting Quincy University.
