USI starts Great Lakes Regional play 1:30 p.m. Saturday
Second -seeded Eagles play seventh-seed Rockhurst
EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana men's basketball team starts NCAA Division II Tournament play at 1:30 p.m. (CST) Saturday against Rockhurst University at the University of Findlay in Findlay, Ohio. USI is the second seed in the regional, while Rockhurst is the seventh seed.
USI has appeared in the NCAA Division II Tournament 14 times in the last 15 years. The Screaming Eagles won the 1995 national title and appeared in the tournament championship game in 1994 and 2004.
Last year, USI lost in the regional championship game to Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
In addition to USI and Rockhurst, the upper half of the regional bracket features third-seeded Grand Valley State University and sixth-seeded Quincy University. GVSU and Quincy start the regional at 11 a.m. (CST) Saturday.
The winners from the top half of the bracket are scheduled to play at 4 p.m. (CST) Sunday afternoon.
The bottom half of the bracket includes top-seeded and host Findlay versus eight-seeded University of Wisconsin-Parkside at 4 p.m. (CST). The final game of the first day features fourth-seeded Northern Kentucky University and fifth-seeded Drury University at 7:30 p.m. (CST).
The winners of the bottom half of the bracket are scheduled to play at 6:30 p.m. (CST) Sunday evening.
The championship game is scheduled for 6 p.m. (CST) March 13 at Findlay.
Findlay is hosting the Great Lakes Regional for the second time in three years. The regional also has six teams from the GLVC, four from the West Division (USI, Rockhurst, Drury, and Quincy).
