Sullivan helps Galaxy to CBI championship
WADSWORTH, Ohio – University of Southern Indiana men's basketball senior center Rashard Sullivan (Miami, Florida) helped Team Galaxy to the Collegiate Basketball Invitational Championship Sunday in Wadsworth, Ohio. Galaxy went 4-0 in the tournament and defeated Team WRH Health Systems, 101-81, in the championship game.
The inaugural Collegiate Basketball Invitational featured 60 of the top college basketball players from the NCAA Division II, III, and NAIA. The 60 players were divided into six teams of 10 players for a double-elimination tournament. The players invited to the tournament were selected from approximately 900 colleges and universities within the three divisions.
Sullivan, who had a double-double in the championship game (13 points and 10 rebounds), started two of the four games and averaged 9.3 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. He also shot 45.5 percent from the field (15-33) and 77.8 percent from the line (7-9), as well as averaging 2.0 assists and 2.0 blocks per game.
In 2006-07, Sullivan led the Screaming Eagles to a 29-6 overall record, the GLVC Tournament championship, the GLVC West Division crown, and into the NCAA Division II Tournament. The honorable mention All-American also was the Disney Division II Tip-Off Classic Most Outstanding Player in helping USI to its second straight pre-season tournament title.
