USI hopes to celebrate homecoming week
Eagles start four-game homestand Thursday

USI Men's Basketball Game Notes

EVANSVILLE, Ind. The University of Southern Indiana men's basketball team starts a four-game homestand at the Physical Activities Center Thursday that includes homecoming for the Screaming Eagles. USI starts action Thursday against Saint Joseph's College at 7:30 p.m. and concludes the "Week of the Beak" with the homecoming game Saturday against the University of Indianapolis.

Tyson
Schnitker

In addition to this week's games, former USI men's basketball players Chris Bowles and Stephen Jackson and men's basketball coach Bruce Pearl will be inducted into the USI Athletic Hall of Fame Friday evening.

The four-game homestand is an important span of contests for the Eagles as they hope to put a firm hold on second place in the GLVC West and the right to host a first round game in the conference tournament.

USI (11-8, 5-6 GLVC) comes back to the PAC on the right note as it broke a three-game road losing streak at Rockhurst University last Saturday, 61-60. Senior guard Tyson Schnitker (Robinson, Illinois) led the Eagles on the last road trip with 18.5 points per game and hit the game-winning layup against Rockhurst.

Norman
Plummer

For the season, USI is led by senior forward Norman Plummer (Cincinnati, Ohio) with 19.7 points per game and 10.3 rebounds per game. Also scoring in double figures for the Eagles are junior forward Anthony Pimble (Bronx, New York), who is averaging 11.3 points per game sophomore guard Darren Cloud (Evansville, Indiana), who is posting 11.2 points per contest and Schnitker, who has had the hot hand the last two weeks and is averaging 10.7 points per game.

USI hopes to have Cloud available this week after he missed the last four games with a sprained ankle. The Eagles are averaging 7.8 fewer points per game (63.8 ppg) since Cloud went down with the injury.

The Pumas of Saint Joseph's (12-7, 8-3 GLVC) are in the midst of a five-game winning streak and are still in the hunt for the GLVC East title. SJC starts the week two-and-a-half games back of Northern Kentucky University and one-and-a-half games behind Kentucky Wesleyan College in the East Division.

The Pumas are led by guard/forward Ronald Coleman with 15.5 points per contest.

USI leads the all-time series with SJC , 42-19, and has won 15 of the last 18 since 2000. The Eagles won last year's meeting in Rensselaer, Indiana, 96-86.

The Greyhounds of UIndy (12-7, 6-5 GLVC) start their week on a two-game losing streak and will play at KWC on Thursday before coming to USI. The Greyhounds, who are still in the hunt for a GLVC playoff berth, are a half-game behind fifth-place Lewis University and one-and-a-half games behind fourth-place Lewis University in the East.

UIndy is led by senior guard DeAndre Brock with 18.5 points per game.

USI leads the all-time series with UIndy, 43-15, despite losing the only meeting last year in Indianapolis, Indiana, 56-55, on a pair free throws with one second remaining.
