Eagles host Missouri Baptist at the PAC
USI GAME NOTES
EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana men's basketball team starts the second half of a six-game homestand Monday when it hosts Missouri Baptist University at the Physical Activities Center. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
The Screaming Eagles (4-2) have eclipsed the century mark in each of the last two games, posting wins over Harris-Stowe State University and the University of Saint Francis (Indiana). This was the first time USI has had back-to-back 100 point games since the 2006-07 season.
In addition to the improved offensive performances, USI has done the job on the defensive end. USI has allowed only 170 in the three home games (56.7 points per game) and has 44 team blocks total this season.
The Eagles are led by senior forward Anthony Pimble (Bronx, New York) who is averaging 14.0 points per season and is shooting 67.3 percent from the field (33-49). He is followed by junior forward Brandon Russ (Cincinnati, Ohio), who is averaging 12.0 points and a team-best 5.7 rebounds per game.
USI junior forward Tyrone Bradshaw (Cincinnati, Ohio) rounds out the double-figure scorers with 10.8 points per game and a team and conference-leading 3.5 blocks per game off the bench.
Pimble and Bradshaw also are leading USI during the homestand with 17.0 points and 15.0 points per game, respectively.
The Spartans of Missouri Baptist (3-2) come to the PAC after winning their last two. Missouri Baptist was 1-2 before defeating Lindenwood College, 101-93, at home and Missouri Valley College, 68-61, on the road. The Spartans are led by junior guards Brandon Roberson and Brandon Bishop, who are averaging 17.6 and 16.0 points per game, respectively.
The Eagles lead the all-time series with the Spartans, 3-1, but Missouri Baptist won the last meeting in 1988-89, 92-85.
