Siemers signs with USI cross country and track
The University of Southern Indiana cross country/track team announced the signing of Will Siemers to a letter of intent for the 2002-03 season. Siemers is the first runner to sign with the Eagles.
Siemers is transferring to USI from Rend Lake College where he was 13th last fall in the NJCAA National Championships and was named All-American.
Prior to attending Rend Lake this past year, Siemers was an All-State cross country runner from Fenton High School in Bensenville, Illinois. He also was All-State in track and was selected for the Midwest Meet of Champions where he was fourth.
Siemers will be expected to contribute right away. “We recruited Will out of high school last year,” said Hillyard. “The team is ecstatic for him to join the team next fall. He brings a lot to the team in terms of attitude and work ethic.”
“He comes from a very talented family and was recruited by Western State College, the three-time defending Division II national champions.” Siemers oldest brother Art is a 3:59 miler and his brother Chris finished fifth at the Division II cross country nationals last fall.
