Despite resting its top eight runners, the University of Southern Indiana men’s cross country team was able to come up with a fourth-place finish Saturday at the University of Evansville Invitational. USI was one of nine schools, eight of which were NCAA Division I institutions, competing at the event.
Sophomore Kenny Young (Avon, Indiana) and senior Lance Sluder (Fairbanks, Indiana) led the way for the Screaming Eagles on Saturday. Young finished 22nd with and 8k time of 27:41.02 while Sluder finished 24 with a time of 27:47.39.
The Eagles will compete at the GLVC Championships next Saturday, October 25, in Romeoville, Illinois. USI is looking to take home the league title for the first time in 12 years.
