USI men’s DMR third at Tyson Invitational,
Boberg second at DePauw Invite
Results
The University of Southern Indiana men’s track and field team’s Distance Medley Relay Team finished third at the Tyson Invitational Saturday at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The Screaming Eagles finished with a school-record time of 10 minutes, 5.98 seconds.
USI’s women finished fifth out of five teams in the championship field of the DMR in Fayetteville on Saturday. The women finished the relay in 12 minutes, 8.81 seconds, just over a second off their top time for the season (12:07.43).
Sophomore All-American Candace Perry (Anderson, Indiana) also competed in the Tyson Invitational, finishing 13th in the long jump with a leap of 18 feet, 9.75 inches.
The Eagles also sent a squad to Greencastle, Indiana, to compete in the DePauw Indoor Invitational. USI had three top-five finishes, led by All-American Abby Boberg’s (Bicknell, Indiana) second-place finish in the high jump.
Boberg recorded a mark of five feet, five inches, tying her for the top height in the event. She lost the tie-breaker based on number of misses at that height.
USI will compete as a full squad Friday when it travels to Charleston, Illinois, to participate in the Friday Night Special. It will be USI’s final tune-up prior to the GLVC Indoor Championships on February 26 in Crawfordsville, Indiana.
