Three Eagles place first at Stan Lyons Invitational

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.—Three University of Southern Indiana women’s track and field competitors placed first Saturday at the Stan Lyons Invitational.
Senior Crystal Stock (Mt. Vernon, Indiana) improved her chances of qualifying for the NCAA II Championships with her first-place finish in the 3,000 meters. Stock finished the race with an NCAA II provisional time of nine minutes, 50.91 seconds.
Junior Abby Boberg (Bicknell, Indiana) finished first in the high jump and sophomore Missy Burgin (Sellersburg, Indiana) paced the field in the 3,000 meter steeplechase. Boberg recorded her best mark of the spring, jumping five feet, 7.25 inches to improve her chances of qualifying for the NCAA II Championships, while Burgin improved upon her school-record and NCAA II provisional qualifying mark with a first-place time of 10 minutes, 54.51 seconds.
The men were led by junior sprinters Brad Orndorff (Greenfield, Indiana) and Tim Bill (Lawrenceburg, Indiana). Orndorff was fourth in the 110-meter hurdles, while Bill was fourth in the 400 meters.
The Screaming Eagles will compete at the GLVC Championships May 6-7 in Romeoville, Illinois. The NCAA II Championships are May 26-28 in Abilene, Texas.
