Eagles sweep weekly runner awards, AGAIN!
EVANSVILLE, Ind.—For the second time in three weeks, the University of Southern Indiana men’s and women’s cross country teams have swept the GLVC Runner of the Week awards.
Seniors Heather Cooksey (Brownsburg, Indiana) and Jesse Davis (Bloomington, Indiana) took this week’s honors after their performances at the Indiana Intercollegiate.

Jesse Davis |
Davis recorded the fourth fastest time ever by a USI runner at Indiana University on Friday. He finished eighth overall at the Indiana Intercollegiate, posting a time of 25 minutes, 45 seconds in the 8k race, and was second amongst Little State competitors.
Every other USI runner to break the 26-minute barrier on the IU Cross Country Course has gone on to earn All-America honors during their career.

Heather Cooksey |
Cooksey, who has earned the GLVC Female Runner of the Week award for the second time this season, became the first female runner in school history to win the Indiana Intercollegiate overall competition. Cooksey ran with the lead group for the first 2,500 meters before pulling away during the second half of the race to post a 16-second victory over Ball State University’s Rose Lehe.
The 10-time All-American is undefeated in both races she has run this season. She has finished first in five of the last six cross country races she has competed in dating back to last season.
The Screaming Eagles return to action October 1 when they compete in the Loyola Lakefront Classic in Chicago, Illinois.
