Stock wins two events at Little State,
Named Female Athlete of the Year

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.—University of Southern Indiana senior
Crystal Stock (Mt. Vernon, Indiana) won the 1,500 and 5,000 meters at the 101st Annual Indiana Little State Track and Field Championships this weekend. Her performance landed her Little State Female Track Athlete of the Year honors.

Stock, who posted an NCAA II provisional time in the 1,500 meters, was one of three women's competitors to record first-place finishes, joining juniors
Missy Burgin (Sellersburg, Indiana) and
Molly Gilland (Osgood, Indiana). Burgin also posted a provisional time with her first-place performance in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
Gilland placed first in the high jump, helping the women's squad to a fifth-place performance with 53 points. The Screaming Eagles were just one point away from third place.
Other top-five finishers for the women's squad included freshmen
Christy Dixon (Owensboro, Kentucky) and
Allison Shafer (Plainville, Indiana). Dixon was fourth in the 800 meters, while Shafer was fourth in the 10,000 meters.

USI's men, led by freshman
Brandon Jones (Ft. Wayne, Indiana), finished 10th with 34 points. Jones was second in the 400 meters with a school-record time of 48.78 seconds after posting the fastest time in the prelims.
Seniors
Jesse Davis (Bloomington, Indiana) and
Jake England (Valparaiso, Indiana) as well as freshman
Chris Kirkwood (Bicknell, Indiana) also posted top five finishes. Davis and Kirkwood were fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and high jump, respectively, while England finished fifth in the 1,500 meters.
USI returns to action April 14-15 when it travels to Terre Haute, Indiana, to compete in the Pacesetter Invitational.
