Eagles finish eighth at Louisville Classic
LOUISVILLE, Ky.—The No. 15 University of Southern Indiana men's cross country team finished eighth in the gold competition of the Greater Louisville Cross Country Classic Saturday morning.
Junior Paul Jellema
(Dyer, Indiana) led the Screaming Eagles with a 47th-place finish and an 8k time of 25 minutes, 30.64 seconds. Sophomore Joe Rayman
(West Lafayette, Indiana) was 69th with an 8k time of 25 minutes, 51.23 seconds.
The Eagles finished the 36-team with 339 points in the gold competition. USI also was eighth in the 24-team blue competition, finishing with 284 points. Junior Justin Thomas
(Indianapolis, Indiana) led the blue team with a 37th-place finish and an 8k time of 27 minutes, 51.61 seconds.
USI returns to action next Saturday when it competes in the Saluki Invitational in Carbondale, Illinois. The GLVC Championships are October 21 in Edwardsville, Illinois.
