Men's cross country is fourth at Saluki Invitational

CARBONDALE, Ill. – The University of Southern Indiana men's cross country team placed fourth in the Saluki Invitational Saturday morning in Carbondale, Illinois. The Screaming Eagles defeated five NCAA Division I teams in the invitational.
USI, which had two of the top 10 finishers, had 78 points as a team. Southern Illinois University, the invitational host, took the top spot with 45 points, while Southeast Missouri State University and the University of Illinois were second and third, respectively
The Eagles top finisher was junior Paul Jellema (Dyer, Indiana), who was sixth with an 8k time of 25:13.87. The top individual was SIU's Mohamed Mohamed, who won the race with a time of 24:32.68.
Jellama was joined in the top 10 by sophomore Tim Sirbek (Hammond, Indiana), who was ninth with a time of 25:26.60. Sophomore Joe Rayman (West Lafayette, Indiana) finished in the top 20 with a time of 25:57.39 to place 18th.
The next action for the Eagles will be the GLVC Championships October 21 in Edwardsville, Illinois.
