Eagles advance to NCAA II Championships,
Jellema earns All-Region honors with third-place finish

KENOSHA, Wis.—The No. 23 University of Southern Indiana men's cross country team finished fifth Saturday at the NCAA II Great Lake s Region Championships to advance to the NCAA II Championships for the second consecutive season.

Junior
Paul Jellema (Dyer, Indiana) led the Screaming Eagles with a third-place performance and earned All-Great Lakes Region honors for the second straight season. Jellema crossed the finish line with a 10k time of 31 minutes, 57.2 seconds.
Sophomore
Tim Sirbek (Hammond, Indiana) finished 26th with a time of 33 minutes, 24.3 seconds.
As a team, the Eagles finished with 177 points, seven points behind Northern Kentucky University. No. 4 Grand Valley State University won the meet with 36 points, while No. 9 Wayne State University finished second with 60 points. No. 19 Saginaw Valley State University (119 points) rounded out the top three.
The men's squad, along with women's sophomore
Allison Shafer (Plainville, Indiana), will compete at the NCAA II Championships November 18 in Pensacola, Florida.
