Eagles dominate mile at IU

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana men's track and field team dominated the mile in its indoor season-opener Saturday at the Indiana Open II.

Led by junior
Paul Jellema (Dyer, Indiana), the Screaming Eagles finished first through seventh and had eight runners finish in the top nine. Jellema recorded the Eagles' only first-place finish of the day as he finished the race in four minutes, 24.36 seconds.
In all, the Eagles had 12 top five finishers, including second-place finishes by junior
Tristan Mannix (Crothersville, Indiana) and freshman
Brandon Jones (Ft. Wayne, Indiana). Mannix was second in the mile with a time of four minutes, 24.98 seconds, while Jones finished second in the 600 meters with a school-record time of one minute, 22.13 seconds.
The Eagles return to action next Saturday when they compete at the Saluki Booster Invitational in Carbondale, Illinois.
