CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana men's track and field team claimed two titles en route to a sixth-place performance Saturday at the GLVC Indoor Championships.

Junior
Paul Jellema (Dyer, Indiana) led the Screaming Eagles with a first-place performance in the 3,000 meters. He also helped USI to a first-place finish in the distance medley relay.
Jellema, who posted a track-record time of eight minutes, 23.75 seconds in the 3,000 meters, earned a pair of All-GLVC honors for his performances.

Freshman
Tim Sirbek (Hammond, Indiana) also earned a pair of All-GLVC honors, one the DMR and the other for his second-place finish in the 5,000 meters.
Along with Sirbek and Jellema, freshmen
Brandon Jones (Ft. Wayne, Indiana) and
Jake Stahl (Gentryville, Indiana) also earned All-GLVC honors for their part in helping USI to the distance medley relay title. The squad finished the DMR with an NCAA II provisional qualifying time of 10 minutes, 12.78 seconds.
In all, the Eagles had six top-five performances as they finished with 50 points. Freshman
Matthew Zielske (Elkhart, Indiana) finished third in the 3,000 meters, while junior
Tristan Mannix (Crothersville, Indiana) was fourth in the mile and senior
Rob Garwood (Columbus, Indiana) placed fifth in the 5,000 meters.
USI will wait and see if its athletes that have posted provisional qualifying marks have made the final cut to compete at the NCAA II Championships, which are March 9-10 in Boston, Massachusetts.
The Eagles open the outdoor season March 23-24 at the Spring Classic in Carbondale, Illinois.
