Jellema garners All-America honors,
Sirbek advances to steeplechase finals
CHARLOTTE, N.C.—University of Southern Indiana junior Paul Jellema (Dyer, Indiana) earned All-America honors in the 10,000 meters Thursday night at the NCAA II Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Jellema was seventh in the 10,000 meters with a time of 30 minutes, 8.28 seconds. It marks the third time in 2006-07 that Jellema has earned All-America honors. He garnered All-America honors in cross country as well as the indoor 5,000 meters.
In addition to the 10,000 meters, freshman Tim Sirbek
(Hammond, Indiana) advanced to the finals in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Sirbek was seventh in the first heat of the steeplechase with a time of nine minutes, 22.40 seconds and will be seeded 12th in Saturday's final.
Jellema returns to action Friday at 6:20 p.m. (CDT) when he competes in the prelims of the 5,000 meters, while Sirbek returns to action Saturday when he competes in steeplechase final at 4:15 p.m.
