USI takes second in the Stegemoller Classic

EVANSVILLE, Ind.. – The University of Southern Indiana men's cross country team took second in the Stegemoller Classic which it hosted Saturday evening at USI Cross Country Course. The Screaming Eagles finished with 43 points, 19 points behind Rend Lake College's 24 points.
USI's top runner was senior Paul Jellama (Dyer, Indiana), who was fourth with a 6k time of 18:11. Jellema was 19 seconds off the pace set by classic winner Elkanah Kibet of Rend Lake, who won the race with a time of 17:51 and a pace of 4:48.
USI junior Tim Sirbek (Hammond, Indiana) followed Jellema in the Eagles' line-up, placing sixth with a time of 18:18, while senior Tristan Mannix (Crothersville, Indiana) was eighth with a time of 18:47.
The Eagles return to action September 14 in the Indiana Intercollegiates in Lafayette, Indiana. This year's intercollegiates are hosted by Purdue University.
