Eagles capture 15th league title,
Jellema, Hillyard earn top GLVC honors

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.—The No. 7 University of Southern Indiana men's cross country team captured its league-record 15th conference title Saturday morning at the GLVC Championships.
USI had three of the top seven finishers as it finished with 41 points, 25 ahead of second-place Northern Kentucky University.

Senior
Paul Jellema (Dyer, Indiana) earned GLVC Runner of the Year honors after capturing the individual title with an 8k time of 24 minutes, 48.90 seconds. He becomes the fourth men's runner in school history and the first since Joey Byrne in 2002 to win the individual GLVC championship.
Joining Jellema on the All-GLVC team was junior
Tim Sirbek (Hammond, Indiana) and senior
Tristan Mannix (Crothersville, Indiana). Sirbek was second with a time of 25 minutes, 16.30 seconds, while Mannix finished seventh with a time of 25 minutes, 29.90 seconds.

Mike Hillyard was named the GLVC Coach of the Year after directing the Screaming Eagles to their third straight conference championship and fourth in the last five years. It marks the seventh time in Hillyard's career that he has earned the league's top coaching honor in either men's or women's cross country.
The Eagles return to action in two weeks when they compete at the NCAA II Great Lakes Region Championships in Edwardsville, Illinois.
