Goodman, Mannix pace USI men in indoor opener

CHARLESTON, Ill.—Freshman David Goodman (Valparaiso, Indiana) and senior Tristan Mannix (Crothersville, Indiana) led the University of Southern Indiana men's track team in its indoor season-opener Saturday at the Eastern Illinois University Invitational.

Goodman was third in the 3,000 meters with a time of eight minutes, 43.98 seconds, while Mannix was fourth in the mile with a time of four minutes, 20.59 seconds.

Sophomore Brandon Campbell (Portage, Indiana) rounded out USI's top-five finishers with a fifth-place showing in the 3,000 meters.

In all, the Screaming Eagles had five top-10 finishers. Freshman Justin Kendrick (Ellettsville, Indiana) was 10th in the 3,000 meters, while USI's distance medley relay team finished ninth.

The Eagles return to action next Friday and Saturday when they take part in the Gladstein Invitational in Bloomington, Indiana.
