Eagles post provisional time in women's DMR

EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana women's track and field team finished third in the distance medley relay Saturday morning at the Virginia Tech Challenge in Blacksburg, Virginia.
USI finished the race with an NCAA II provisional qualifying time of 12 minutes, 21.94 seconds. The team consisted of sophomores Mary Ballinger (Chesterton, Indiana) and Lauren Crick (Evansville, Indiana) as well as junior Christy Dixon (Owensboro, Kentucky) and senior Heather Cooksey (Brownsburg, Indiana).
Senior Tristan Mannix (Crothersville, Indiana) also competed at the Virginia Tech Challenge, finishing 12th in the men's 5,000 meters with a time of 15 minutes, 10.07 seconds.
The Screaming Eagles also competed at the Eastern Illinois University Friday Night Special in Charleston, Illinois, Friday night.
Freshman Carmisha Leary (Indianapolis, Indiana) led the women's squad with a 15th-place finish in the shot put, while senior Jeremy Kemper (West Terre Haute, Indiana) led the men's team with a ninth-place showing in the 3,000 meters.
USI returns to action March 1 when it competes at the GLVC Indoor Championships in Crawfordsville, Indiana.
