Eagles finish seventh at GLVC Championships

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill.—The University of Southern Indiana men's track and field team finished seventh at the GLVC Outdoor Championships this weekend.

Freshman
David Goodman (Valparaiso, Indiana) led the Screaming Eagles with a pair of top-five finishes. Goodman was second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and third in the 5,000 meters en route to being named co-GLVC Freshman of the Year by the league's coaches. It marks the second time this year that Goodman has earned freshman of the year accolades after earning the same honor during the indoor season.
As a team, the Eagles finished with 43 points on the strength of 10 top-10 finishes and seven top-five performances.

Sophomore
Brandon Campbell (Portage, Indiana) posted a pair of top-five finishes as he was third in the steeplechase and fifth in the 5,000 meters. Senior
Tristan Mannix (Crothersville, Indiana) was second in the 5,000 meters, while senior
Rob Roads (Terre Haute, Indiana) was fifth in the steeplechase.
The team of junior
Austin Inge (Ossian, Indiana) and freshmen
Josh VanZant (Mt. Vernon, Indiana),
Steve Hartman (Ft. Wayne, Indiana), and
Russell Farris (Elizabeth, Indiana) rounded out the Eagles' top-five performances with a fifth-place finish in the 4x100-meter relay.
USI will attempt to record or better NCAA II provisional qualifying times when it returns to action Thursday and Friday at the Dr. Keeler Invitational in Naperville, Illinois. The NCAA II Outdoor Championships are May 22-24 in Walnut, California.
