USI is second in Stegemoller Classic

EVANSVILLE, Ind. -- The University of Southern Indiana men's cross country team placed second in the Stegemoller Classic Saturday evening at the USI Intramural Complex. USI totaled 43 points as a team, nine points behind team winner Southeast Missouri State University's 34.
The Screaming Eagles did finish 39 points ahead of third place Bellarmine University, which had 82 points, and Brescia University, which had 138.
Leading the way for the Eagles was freshman Dustin Emerick (Elmwood, Illinois), who was sixth with a 6K time of 18:53. Emerick was followed by USI freshman David Goodman (Valparaiso, Indiana), who was seven with time of 18:56, and senior Bryan Phillips (Kokomo, Indiana), who was eighth after crossing the line in 18:58.
USI junior Matt Zielske (Elkhart, Indiana) rounded out the top 10 finishers for the Eagles, placing 10th with a time of 19:00.
The Eagles resume action September 19 at the Indiana Intercollegiates, hosted by Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana.
