Eagles finish 10th at Louisville,
Reserves finish second in Blue competition

LOUISVILLE, Ky.—The No. 12-ranked University of Southern Indiana men's cross country team raced to a 10th-place finish Saturday morning at the Greater Louisville Cross Country Classic.

USI finished with 287 points in a 33-team field that featured 20 NCAA Division I institutions.

Sophomore Andrew Dixon (Petersburg, Indiana) led the Screaming Eagles with a 50th-place finish, while junior Matt Zielske (Elkhart, Indiana) finished 53rd out of 294 competitors. Dixon completed the 8k course in 25 minutes, 5.51 seconds, while Zielske finished the race in 25 minutes, 7.38 seconds.

USI's reserves also had a strong day as they finished second out of 25 teams in the Blue race. Senior Sam Gebreselassie (Avon, Indiana) and junior Andrew Menner (Greenwood, Indiana) finished seventh and ninth, respectively, to lead the Eagles, who finished with 71 points.

The Eagles return to action October 18 when they travel across town to take part in the University of Evansville Invitational at the UE Cross Country Course. The GLVC Championships are October 25 in Rolla, Missouri.
